A SATURDAY AFTERNOON BOMB THREAT IN COUDERSPORT IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION TODAY.  ACCORDING TO LOCAL POLICE AGENCIES, A NOTE WAS DISCOVERED IN THE BATHROOM OF INTERNET PROVIDER ZITO MEDIA SAYING THERE WAS A BOMB IN THE BUILDING.  AS A RESULT, SEVERAL BUILDINGS IN THE VICINITY WERE EVACUATED UNTIL THE INVESTIGATION WAS COMPLETE.  NO BOMB WAS FOUND.  IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THE INCIDENT, YOU’RE ASKED TO CALL EITHER COUDERSPORT STATE POLICE OR BOROUGH POLICE.

AN OSCEOLA MILLS WOMAN REMAINS IN THE HOSPITAL TODAY AFTER A SATURDAY AFTERNOON ACCIDENT IN CLEARFIELD COUNTY.  PUNXSUTAWNEY STATE POLICE TELL US IT HAPPENED ABOUT 12:30 ON CECIL HURD HIGHWAY IN NEWBURG BOROUGH WHEN 27-YEAR OLD ANGELA SLOPPY LOST CONTROL OF HER PICKUP TRUCK AND STRUCK SEVERAL TREES ALONG THE ROADWAY.  SLOPPY HAD TO BE EXTRACATED FROM THE VEHICLE AND WAS FLOWN TO UPMC ALTOONA FOR TREATMENT.  POLICE SUSPECT SHE MAY HAVE BEEN UNDER THE INFLUENCE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.

RIDGWAY STATE POLICE CONTINUE TO LOOK INTO THE THEFT OF A WEED EATER LAST FRIDAY AFTERNOON.  POLICE SAY IT HAPPENED ON ROUTE 555 WHEN 2 SUSPECTS TOOK THE UNIT THAT WAS LAID UP SIDE A TREE.  THE DUO FLED THE SCENE IN A WHILE VEHICLE TOWARD DRIFTWOOD.  ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CALL RIDGWAY STATE POLICE.

MARYS CITY COUNCIL IS SET TO MEET TONIGHT IN THEIR REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING.  ON THE AGENDA, COUNCIL IS EXPECTED TO TAKE LEGISLATIVE ACTON ON SEVERAL ITEMS INCLUDING LIQUID FUEL REIMBURSEMENT, A PARKING ZONE ON SOUTH MICHAEL STREET AND A SUBDIVISION APPLICATION AMONG OTHER ITEMS.  THE MEETING STARTS AT 7 AT CITY HALL AND IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

THE STATE POLICE FIRE MARSHAL IS BACK ON SCENE TODAY AT THE SITE OF THURSDAY MORNING’S DEVISTATING BLAZE AT WARREN TIRE CENTER ON THE EAST SIDE OF WARREN.  AS OF THIS MORNING, THERE WERE STILL TIRES SMOLDERING FROM THE FIRE.  SOME REPORTS STATE THE FIRE SPARKED IN THE BACK OF THE COMPLEX AND WAS FUELED BY OVER 2 THOUSAND GALLONS OF USED OIL.  THE BUILDING IS A COMPLETE LOSS. 

 

ASIDE FROM THE BUILDING, THE INCIDENT HAS CAUSED MANY OTHER ISSUES IN THAT AREA INCLUDING SOME LOSS OF CELLULAR/WIRELES SERVICE, POWER ISSUES, DAMAGE TO A FEW HOMES IN THE VICINITY AND MAJOR TRAFFIC CONGESTION.  AS OF NOW, THE GLADE BRIDGE AND PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE ARE OPEN PAST THE SCENE.  OFFICIALS ADVISE YOU TO UTILIZE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING IN THAT AREA AS MANY WORKERS ARE STILL TENDING TO THE SITE.

2 THEFTS FROM MOTOR VEHICLES REMAIN UNDER INVESTIGATION IN RIDGWAY BOROUGH TODAY.  BOTH HAPPENED WEDNESDAY OF THIS WEEK.  THE FIRST HAPPENED ON SOUTH MILL AVENUE WHEN SOMEBODY TOOK A PURSE BELONGING TO SANDRA LAWRIE FROM HER VEHICLE THAT WAS PARKED THERE. 

 

THE 2ND HAPPENED ON MAIN STREET WHEN KEN ROBINSON HAD HIS WALLET TAKEN FROM HIS VEHICLE.  THAT INCIDENT IS ALLEGED TO HAVE HAPPENED ABOUT 10:30PM.  ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON EITHER CASE IS ASKED TO CALL BOROUGH POLICE.

A RIXFORD MAN WILL SPEND THE NEXT 5 TO 10 YEARS IN STATE PRISON ON FIREARMS CHARGES.  52-YEAR OLD WILLIAM TIPTON PLED GUILTY IN MAY TO A WEAPON POSSESSION CHARGE.  HE WAS NOT ALLOWED TO POSSESS THE GUN AT THE TIME.  HE ALSO ALLEGEDLY ALLOWED A 6-YEAR OLD CHILD TO SHOOT THE GUN WITHOUT EYE OR EAR PROTECTION.

THE INVESTIGATION INTO AN OVERNIGHT FIRE IN WARREN COUNTY IS UNDERWAY TODAY.  MULTIPLE FIRE DEPARTMENTS WERE CALLED OUT AROUND 1:00 TO WARREN TIRE CENTER ON PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE EAST.  THE BUILDING WAS FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES WHEN PERSONNEL ARRIVED.  WARREN CITY FIRE CHIEF SAM PASCUZZI SAYS THE BUILDING IS A COMPLETE LOSS.  ONE FIREFIGHTER WAS TREATED FOR INJURIES RECEIVED WHILE FIGHTING THE FIRE.

ONE OF THE SUSPECTS CHARGED IN THE MURDER OF A CURWENSVILLE MAN LAST YEAR WAS BACK IN COURT THIS WEEK.  LAWYERS FOR 38-YEAR OLD JOSEPH RALSTON WERE SEEKING TO HAVE HIS BAIL LOWERED, BUT THOSE MOTIONS WERE DENIED.  RALSTON AND 26-YEAR OLD CHANTELL DEMI ARE BOTH ACCUSED OF TRYING TO LIGHT A FIRE TO DESTROY THE BODY OF 19-YEAR OLD CHASE ANDERSON.  ANDERSON WAS ALLEGEDLY STABBED TO DEATH BY 22-YEAR OLD KENJA TEW OF GLEN RICHEY AND 38-YEAR OLD DENNY BAILEY LAST AUGUST.

A HEARING IS SET FOR A BRADFORD MAN ACCUSED OF THREATENING TO BLOW UP A CLEARFIELD COUNTY HOME.  21-YEAR OLD DANIEL WALTON’S COUSIN CALLED POLICE BACK ON MAY 26TH CLAIMING THAT WALTON WAS BECOMING INCREASINGLY HOSTILE.  A NEIGHBOR TOLD POLICE THAT HE HEARD WALTON THREATEN TO BLOW UP A NEIGHBORING HOUSE, AND AFTER SMELLING GAS, POLICE EVACUATED 5 HOUSES IN THE AREA.  WALTON WILL BE IN COURT FRIDAY.  HE REMAINS IN THE CLEARFIELD COUNTY.

KANE BOROUGH COUNCIL IS HAVING TO DEAL WITH AN OLD STINKY NEMESIS AGAIN.  PUN INTENDED.  COMPLAINTS WERE RAISED AT YESTERDAY’S MEETING ABOUT THE ODOR COMING FROM THE CLAUDE AND KATHLEEN BARBER RESIDENCE ON HAINES STREET.  COUNCIL TOOK ACTION LAST YEAR TO MAKE THE BARBER’S CLEAN UP THE HOME OR IT WOULD BE DEEMED UNSAFE.  MORE DISCUSSION IS EXPECTED ON WHAT APPROPIRATE STEPS ARE NEXT.

A MCKEAN COUNTY MAN IS OK AFTER A 1-VEHICLE ACCIDENT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.  KANE STATE POLICE TELL US IT HAPPENED ABOUT 4:00 ON WEST ELDRED ROAD IN ELDRED TOWNSHIP WHEN 18-YEAR OLD MATTHEW MOORE OF TURTLEPOINT LOST CONTROL OF HIS CAR AND STRUCK A DITCH, WHICH CAUSED HIS VEHICLE TO OVERTURN.  POLICE SUSPECT MOORE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES, BUT HE REFUSED TREATMENT AT THE SCENE.

A RIXFORD MAN IS FACING FELONY GUN CHARGES AFTER A MONDAY NIGHT TRAFFIC STOP IN OLEAN, NEW YORK.  POLICE SAY 34-YEAR OLD MARTIN MILLER IS CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF A WEAPON WITH A PREVIOUS FELONY CONVICTION AMONG OTHER CHARGES.  MILLER HAD BEEN CONVICTED OF DWI IN CATTARAUGUS COUNTY IN MAY OF 2017.

RIDGWAY BOROUGH POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A THEFT THAT HAPPENED MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND.  POLICE SAY IT HAPPENED MAY 26TH AT A HOME ON NORTH MILL AVENUE.  A FEMALE REPORTED THAT SOMEBODY TOOK A LARGE AMOUNT OF CASH FROM A SAFE INSIDE HER HOME.  ANYONE WITH ANY INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CALL RIDGWAY POLICE.

AN UPDATE TO A STORY WE FIRST TOLD YOU ABOUT THIS MORNING.  INVESTIGATORS HAVE RULED OUT FOUL PLAY IN THE APPARENT DROWNING DEATH OF A BRADFORD MAN ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON.  OFFICIALS HAVE ALSO RELEASED THE IDENTITY OF THE MAN AS 40-YEAR OLD DAVID ANDERSON.  AN AUTOPSY HAS TAKEN PLACE AND NOW OFFICIALS ARE AWAITING RESULTS TO CONFIRM THE CAUSE OF DEATH.

TWO MEN ARE FACING THEFT AND FORGERY CHARGES AFTER STEALING MONEY AND USING DEBIT CARDS THAT WEREN’T THEIR OWN.  CLARION STATE POLICE HAVE ARRESTED 32-YEAR OLD ERIC RHOADES, JUNIOR OF SHIPPENVILLE AND 32-YEAR OLD MATTHEW MARSHALL OF GREENSBURG AFTER THE DUO ALLEGEDLY TOOK CASH AND DEBIT CARDS FROM AN UNLOCKED VEHICLE ON RIDGEWOOD ROAD IN SHIPPENVILLE BACK ON MAY 31ST.  THEY THEN USED THE DEBIT CARDS TO MAKE OVER 200 DOLLARS IN PURCHASES.  BETWEEN THE CASH AND CARDS, A TOTAL OF ALMOST 900 DOLLARS WAS STOLEN.  THE DUO WILL BE IN COURT NEXT WEEK.
